'What comes next is unclear': Aid struggles getting to local areas ravaged by hurricane.

Nearly a week following the powerful storm pummelled into Jamaica's western region with record force, residents in devastated communities in coastal zones are persistently anticipating for assistance.

Many of the roads are clogged with rubble and people are isolated with scarce supplies, lacking utilities, and no idea of when normalcy will return.

Growing Fatalities

Authorities confirmed on Saturday that no fewer than 28 individuals in Jamaica have died since the hurricane hit as a powerful maximum-level cyclone with 185 mph (297km/h) sustained winds.

This marks approximately half again as many in the fatalities within a day, and figures may increase as workers advance into additional regions in the next few days.

Regional Impact

This particular parish is believed to have the second-most instances of potential fatalities, behind the southeastern parish to the eastern sector. The cyclone's core made landfall around the two neighbouring parishes. Within that parish an approximately nine out of ten houses have been demolished.

'The future remains uncertain', characterized the situation as ''complete destruction'.

A long stretch of road leading into Westmoreland Parish winds through a cemetery of vegetation – heaps of broken wood, broken and contorted, covering the terrain extensively.
