The second-hand marketplace Users Express Displeasure Regarding Size Changes

Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.

This online marketplace has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.

Online Platforms Response

Countless users and merchants are posting online stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category than originally posted because of the remapping.

The company said the updated approach better aligns with similar services.

They have suggested members to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually when needed, resulting in member annoyance.

Sizing System Updates

Previously, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.

The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.

In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.

Member Stories

One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

Another user, located in Scotland, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she said.

Required Changes

Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".

"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she said.

Marketplace Information

The platform boasts over 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options after backlash from users.
