The 'Breaking Bad' Creator Discloses He Has an Idea of How The Apple TV+ Show Will End... For Now.

The creative mastermind could not have predicted that his new science-fiction series would emerge as a cultural phenomenon. “I am so grateful to the audience,” he remarks. “It was unexpected the show being as talked about as it is, and it makes me thrilled beyond words.”

With the first season of the hit series reaching its finale—and Season 2 officially in the works—Gilligan and his team opened up about the fan response and whether it will impact the narrative path of Pluribus.

About the Incredible Viewer Reception

One could easily to get sidetracked by the constant speculation and audience predictions about Pluribus. He is striving to ignore the noise.

“It's like being constantly eating your favorite dessert and being tickled to death,” he describes. “It's the greatest thing, but I learn of it from others, and that's by design. Never in my life Googled myself, nor do I ever want to. It's quite the opposite. It's a rabbit hole I know I would get lost in and then I'd be living in squalor from the hardware store and I'd never leave my living room.”

In spite of his concerted efforts, there’s it's impossible to ignore the overwhelmingly positive response to the series. The most practical strategy is to take it in stride and try not to let it influence the direction of the show.

“It is not our goal to adjust our writing,” says Alison Tatlock. “The plot we develop is not changed by online forums.”

“It's wiser to keep our noses to the grindstone,” he chimes in.

The Big Question: Has the showrunner See the Ending of Pluribus?

Given that the writers are not listening by public opinion, can we assume they have mapped out how Pluribus will finally conclude? In short yes… sort of.

“We've developed some interesting ideas about how the story could conclude,” Gilligan reveals. “but we are always ready to abandon a good idea for a superior concept. This approach has served us in excellent shape on Better Call Saul and on Breaking Bad even before that. We change course when we find a more perfect path and I suspect we'll be doing that.”

Then again, if they hit a wall, director and writer Gordon Smith has a pretty funny idea to fall back on.

“I constantly suggest that everything takes place within a snow globe, and that we'll pull back at the end and we're in there,” Smith quips, “but no one is buying it.”

Of course, why not reference the classics?

“I'd love for Carol to wake up in bed beside Bob Newhart,” Gilligan adds, smiling.

Pluribus is streaming now on Apple TV+.
